We have an exciting permanent opportunity for a Project Manager to join Sydney Water's Energy & Recovered Resources Team. We currently generate up to 20% of Sydney Water’s electricity needs, and this role will focus on new projects, ensuring our renewable energy generators continue to play a vital role in our implementation of Sydney Water’s Net Carbon Zero Plan by 2030.
Our ideal candidate will have experience in the renewable energy field managing interfaces between multiple stakeholders such as operations, project teams and contractors, and will have a background in engineering or program management.
What You'll Be Doing:
Renewable Energy Contribution You will support our production of renewable energy including biogas co-generation, hydro and solar electricity, working closely with expert teams in project delivery, operations, and maintenance.
Project Leadership & Coordination You will lead the coordination between Plant Operations and the Project Team, guiding major projects through all phases—from initiation to close-out and handover—ensuring alignment with Sydney Water's processes and standards. Additionally, you will ensure the project scope is well-defined and meets renewable energy performance objectives by collaborating with key stakeholders.
Risk Management & Quality Assurance You will make key decisions to keep projects on track in terms of budget and schedule, while minimizing operational disruptions. By maintaining regular communication with interfacing projects, you will anticipate challenges, and ensure high-quality audits, inspections, and site observations are completed and shared within the Sydney Water Delivery Management community.
Experience and Qualifications:
- 5+ year’s professional experience in plant operations/management.
- Demonstrated expertise in leading the planning and delivery of operational aspects for complex projects, including managing the operational integration of medium to small engineering infrastructure projects.
- Developed project/program management skills and knowledge, including preparation of operational interface objectives, schedules, risk management plans and resource management.
- Effective oral and written communication skills including advanced negotiation skills and proven ability in preparation of written reports, procedures, project communication plans, recommendations, and proposals.
Essential Requirements:
- Degree in Engineering or relevant discipline, or relevant experience.
- Formal qualifications in Leadership or Project Management desirable.
- Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident at the time of application
- Relevant valid driver's licence required
