About the role:
The Planning and Scheduling Director leads planning and scheduling across Infrastructure Delivery, ensuring projects have robust, efficient schedules for reliable outcomes. Reporting to the Head of Business Performance Delivery Hub, the role empowers teams with frameworks, standards, and tools like Primavera P6 while driving activity management, critical path analysis, and earned value to optimize sequencing and efficiency.
Extensive experience in Planning & Scheduling for large construction projects is essential. Candidates with experience limited to IT, finance, or banking will NOT meet the role criteria.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply and continuously improve planning and scheduling frameworks, standards, and tools across all infrastructure delivery projects.
- Empower delivery teams to manage schedules while providing assurance, intervention, and risk oversight for time, cost, and interdependencies.
- Partner with project teams to develop and maintain integrated schedules, ensuring consistent use of Primavera P6, earned value, and critical path analysis.
- Deliver timely insights and foresight on schedule health, resource constraints, and risks to enable proactive decision-making.
- Build capability through coaching and mentoring, fostering a collaborative culture of scheduling excellence and continuous improvement.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Relevant qualifications in project/program management, engineering, or a technical discipline, combined with business or management expertise.
- Significant leadership experience in planning and scheduling for major infrastructure or capital delivery programs.
- Advanced knowledge of project controls tools and techniques, including Primavera P6, earned value management, activity management, and critical path analysis.
- Proven ability to establish governance frameworks and uplift scheduling discipline across complex projects and programs.
- Strong communication, coaching, and stakeholder engagement skills, with a track record of influencing senior leaders and developing team capability.
