  • Fulltime permanent position within Water & Environment Services – Water Supply & Production

 

An exciting opportunity to join our Water Supply & Production (WS&P) team as a Process Engineer, providing process design, production and operational expertise in the management, optimisation and improvement of Water systems.

You will be part of an innovative process engineering team to support water product outcomes at Sydney Water.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out bench scale tests (jar tests), pilot plant trials, advanced optimisation, troubleshooting, and modelling to improve product (water) quality, process reliability and plant efficiency.
  • Perform pilot scale trials of new process technology for water treatment that will bring innovations in Sydney Water to manage water treatment challenges due to climate change impacts.
  • Technical support to Water Supply & Production (WS&P) teams during product quality incidents and emergencies.
  • Develop annual risk assessment briefing papers for Water Filtration Plants (WFPs), prepare for risk assessment workshop, present the briefing paper and contribute to the risk assessment for WFPs.
  • Implement improvement actions at WFPs to improve process control, advanced online monitoring of water quality and risk reductions.
  • Provide input and analysis for the system performance summary and conduct internal benchmarking with relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide input into Functional Design Specifications for control systems, commissioning and monitoring plan of new treatment process.

Essential Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Engineering or Science, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in water operations or similar process engineering environment.
  • Relevant valid driver's licence required.
  • Experience with SCADA systems, software for analytics and reporting, Microsoft Office applications and ability to use customised software packages.
  • Demonstrated experience in hands on troubleshooting, optimisation and technical support to Water/Wastewater Treatment Operations.
  • Stakeholder management skills in a team environment working across varying levels.
  • Demonstrated experience in technical report writing and data analysis.
  • Demonstrated technical capabilities that would enable process related diagnosis/ root cause analysis.
