About the role:
This role provides strategic oversight and assurance for major projects involving control systems (SCADA/IICATS) across new, refurbished, and repurposed Water Infrastructure assets. You’ll manage interfaces between design, construction, and system integration contractors, while overseeing the development and integration of Control/SCADA systems to ensure compliance and successful implementation with Sydney Water’s operational technology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead procurement and delivery strategy for SCADA/Control Systems and IICATS integration, including scoping, tender evaluation, risk management, and onboarding of system integrators.
- Oversee design and integration of SCADA and IICATS systems across new, refurbished, and repurposed assets, ensuring compliance with Sydney Water standards, cybersecurity requirements, and seamless interface with existing operations.
- Manage build, testing, and commissioning activities, including software development tracking, FAT/SAT workshops, cutover planning, and troubleshooting to ensure quality and readiness for handover.
- Provide governance and assurance across major projects, monitoring progress, validating claims and variations, supporting audits, and driving performance against program benefits and investment plans.
- Exercise leadership and stakeholder engagement, acting as the primary point of contact for control systems delivery, coaching project teams, and ensuring alignment with Sydney Water’s vision and values while managing high-value, high-risk decisions.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- A relevant degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in SCADA/IICATS systems, including design, commissioning, operation, and maintenance for water or wastewater infrastructure.
- Strong background in the construction water industry, with hands-on involvement in major projects and system integration.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve SCADA/PLC software and hardware issues, with hands-on problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated capability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and engage stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
- Experience developing training packages and documentation for SCADA systems and devices.
