About the role:

This position leads the coordination of operational and capital projects across Sydney Waters network including Water Filtration Plants and other assets. You will ensure the effective performance, communication, reporting, and escalation of the program of work across your portfolio. You will also manage the interface between our operations and project teams for major projects and initiatives. You will oversee and manage aspects of plant operations to ensure the seamless integration of project delivery with core plant operations.

What you will be doing: 

  • Ensure effective performance, communication, reporting and escalation of the program of work.
  • Interface for stakeholders to ensure capital projects are fit for purpose for the Water Supply & Production teams throughout the planning, options development, design, construction, commissioning and operational phases.
  • Lead technical input into capital and operational projects for Water Filtration Plants (WFPs) and review design, construction and commissioning documents ensuring Sydney Water standards and specifications are met.
  • Manage the interface between operations and project teams for major projects, and ensure safety in design, operability and maintainability in capital upgrades. 

Your Experience and Qualifications:

In addition to a degree in Engineering or a related discipline, we are ideally looking for further qualifications or certification in Project Management. Also you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in leading the planning and delivery of the operational aspects of complex projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and/or managing the operational integration of small to medium engineering infrastructure projects.
  • Skills in managing interfaces with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Developed skills in engineering and operational review and input into option study, concept /reference design, detailed design construction and commissioning of assets.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills including advanced negotiation skills and proven ability in preparation of written reports, procedures, project communication plans, recommendations, and proposals.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements as they relate to the design and implementation of capital projects within an operational plant.
