About the role

This is a great opportunity for someone with demonstrated experience working in asset-intensive industries to join a dynamic team setting strategic direction for management of water related asset classes using Asset Management and business-related process across the Greater Sydney Region.

Reporting to the Manager, Asset and Systems Management, this position is key to supporting the development of sound asset strategies and management plans, and assisting with the efficient delivery of quality water, wastewater, recycled water and or stormwater services to customers and protecting the environment. 

You will:

  • Support the development of strategic Asset Management artifacts for Sydney Water relating to the relevant product portfolio.
  • Support the co-creation of integrated strategies and plans that deliver customer focused commercial outcomes for Sydney Water ensuring trade-offs are considered between cost, risk, and performance
  • Contribute to development and implementation of Management System Frameworks across the organisation,
  • Support and review the long-, medium- and short-term strategic outcomes delivered through Policy, Position Statements, Strategic Plans and Specifications for the relevant portfolio, to determine gaps and proactive solutions
  • Participate in Risk Assessments to ensure key issues and opportunities are identified and managed through appropriate strategies.
  • Monitor, evaluate and report the performance, effectiveness and benefits realisation against Strategic Management Plans identified outcomes
  • Support the development of the 5-year strategic improvement plans; understand the requirements and performance of integrated assets across systems, and adjusts strategy to ensure requirements are being met.

About you

You will have prior experience working in an asset-intensive industry, with a demonstrated understanding of Asset Management and how effective and efficient management of assets impacts the greater business. 

You have a strong customer-focus and enjoy collaborating with a range of internal and external business stakeholders, using your effective communication skills to establish strong relationships. You have strong analytical skills and the ability to identify issues, trends, drivers and links to customer / regulatory requirements, as well as areas for improvements.

You will have:

  • Degree qualifications in Engineering, Science, Business or a related discipline, or experience deemed equivalent.
  • Experience across relevant products/asset classes and integrated water cycle management
  • Basic project management experience
  • Strong analytical skills to identify issues, trends, drivers and links to customer/ regulatory needs.
  • Interest and capability in developing innovative solutions to overcome complex challenges in the water industry.
