About the role
The Operational Process Engineer will play a pivotal role supporting process optimisation and innovation across Water Supply and Production (WSP). The role provides support to both plant operations and plant upgrade projects. You will work collaboratively with internal and external teams to deliver high-impact, water supply solutions that directly contribute to public health and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
- Lead process optimisation and troubleshooting to improve product quality and achieve cost savings across Water Filtration Plants (WFPs).
- Provide technical and operational advice on process improvements, emerging technologies, and product quality issues, including during incidents and emergencies.
- Plan and conduct bench-scale and pilot-scale trials to evaluate new technologies, chemicals, and instrumentation for WS&P operations.
- Support capital project reviews providing operational insights in design, commissioning, and control system integration and ensure compliance with Sydney Water standards.
- Contribute to risk assessments and performance reporting, including preparing risk registers, facilitating workshops, and producing system performance summaries.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including guidance manuals, specifications, and training materials to standardise WS&P practices and ensure regulatory compliance.
About You:
In addition to a Degree or other Tertiary Qualification in Chemical / Process Engineering and a drivers licence we are looking for:
· Minimum 3 years’ experience in water operations or a similar process engineering environment
- Demonstrated experience in hands on troubleshooting, optimisation and technical support to water or wastewater operations
- Stakeholder management and facilitation skills, working in a team environment
- Experience with SCADA systems, software for analytics, Microsoft Office applications and ability to use customised software packages
