Water Resource Recovery (a business wholly owned by Sydney Water) is a family friendly workplace offering job and workhour flexibility. The plants within Blue Mountains Hub are modern tertiary treatment facilities that have high level automation, serving a large area of Western Sydney. There are significant number of projects to cater for growth in the region.

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for the best practice safe operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment assets to meet legislative and product requirements, as well as meet customer, safety and efficiency targets. 
  • Operate the plant in all conditions, in alignment with Treatment and Sydney Water frameworks including health and safety requirements, quality and information management protocols, incident response and business continuity frameworks
  • Monitoring of SCADA control systems, plant asset operational checks, sampling and laboratory work, interfacing with maintenance and project contractors.
  • The position is based across all plants within the Blue Mountains Hub and will involve travel between each of the plants within the hub (Penrith WRRF, Winmalee WRRF Richmond WRRF and North Richmond WRRF)
  • Contribute to successful completion of complex capital and operational projects
  • Must be willing & flexible for hands on learning

 

About you

This position will suit a team member who has operated plants in previous roles. You will have a manufacturing / production or trade services background, with experience in Wastewater Treatment and Water resources being highly advantageous.

The ideal candidate for this position would have:

  • A growth mindset and be a safety champion in a high-performance team
  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering/Science or trade qualification
  • A ‘hands-on’ approach to problem solving and troubleshooting of process and equipment issues.
  • Good people skills and experience in coordinating internal and external service providers to perform maintenance and project works.
  • A personal drive for continuous improvement and to contribute to a positive team culture.
  • The ability to commit to occasional overtime and working on a stand-by roster
  • Exposure to quality management systems.
  • Experience of SCADA is advantageous.
